Create dataset

Create datasets to use in your solution on the Polyteia Platform.

To create a new dataset, go to your solution and click either on Create dataset on the overview page or on + New dataset on the Datasets tab. After entering a title and source, you'll be taken to the dataset overview where you can upload data and manage metadata.

New dataset

From a solution

1. Navigate to a solution.

2. Create a new dataset using one of the following options:

   • Click on the Create dataset button on the Overview tab.

   • Or click on + New dataset on the Datasets tab.

3. Enter a suitable name and description for the dataset.

4. The dataset overview will open.

From the insights overview

1. Click on "Datasets" in the left navigation bar.

2. Click the + New dataset button.

3. Enter a suitable name and description for the insight.

4. The dataset overview will open.

Uploading data

Once the dataset is created, the overview page shows an upload area. You can upload a file in CSV, Excel, JSON, or Parquet format.

Managing dataset content

After creating a dataset, you can do the following on the overview page:

• Add tags: Click on + Add tag to categorize your dataset.

• Add documentation: Click on the ✏️ icon next to Documentation to write internal notes or context.

To edit the dataset title, source, or description:

• Click on the ... menu at the top right

• Select Edit dataset details

Viewing and editing metadata and schema

Switch to the Details tab to see more technical information:

Field	Description
Size	File size of the uploaded dataset
Warehouse	Storage location (e.g., s3)
Type	File format (e.g., CSV)
Last uploaded	Date of the last upload

You can also edit the schema:

• Change column names

• Update data types (e.g., from Text to Number)

This is useful for renaming generic column headers or correcting data types before analysis.

Next steps

Once your dataset is ready, you can immediately:

• Start creating insights by clicking on Explore dataset

• Or return later via Home → Workspace → Solution → Datasets
