Place filter components

Embed filters directly into your report layout so readers can adjust context on the spot.

In addition to the global filter bar, you can place filters as standalone components directly inside a report. This is especially useful when readers should adjust context next to KPIs, narrative sections, or comparison dashboards.

Insert a filter component

  1. Open the report in edit mode.

  2. On the toolbar, click Filters → Insert filter.

  3. Choose the filter you want to display (only filters visible in the global bar appear in the list).

  4. The filter is inserted as a block that you can move, resize, or place in columns like any other element.

💡 If the list is empty, create a filter first or toggle its visibility back on.

How components behave

  • They use the same options and styling as the global filter bar.

  • Updates sync instantly with the global filter value and every connected insight.

  • Dropdown filters with SQL-sourced options load values on demand, just like in the bar.

Layout tips

  • Position filter components at the top of a chapter or next to the KPIs they control.

  • Combine them with grid layouts or cards to group controls and metrics.

  • For reports with many filters, highlight the most important ones via components and leave the rest in the global bar.

Pair filter components with Prevent local override (see Advanced settings) when you want all visualizations to stay in sync.
